5 Ways to Upgrade Your Builder-Grade Kitchen (Stylish Updates)
I have compiled 5 simple ideas to update your kitchen!
1.Paint Your Cabinets (Kitchen Cabinet Ideas)
Painting your kitchen cabinets is one of the most cost-effective ways to upgrade your builder-grade kitchen. Of course, white is all the rage right now. But, honestly, there are so many colors to choose from now- why not put your personality into it and make it your own.
Cleaning your cabinets is the first step to having a beautiful finish. TSP is a great way to degrease your cabinets. This is a very important step to follow making sure your surface is fully prepped for the best finish. Scrub the cabinets thoroughly then rinse and wipe everything dry with a clean cloth. Now it is time to sand the cabinets slightly and apply a fast-drying primer.
Next, apply two coats of enamel paint. Enamel paint is important as it dries and cures to a very hard finish this is perfect for your kitchen cabinets.

Install New Hardware (Modernize those Cabinets)
Sometimes builder-grade cabinets do not come with hardware at all, so adding new hardware can be an easy upgrade. This is a very simple way to make your outdated kitchen look new.
The hardware we chose is from Amazon-about 45 $ for 18 of them! Link below:)
There are a few different ways to update your backsplash.
Paint them- If you already have ceramic tile and it’s outdated, simple solution- paint it!!
Add tiles stickers. Etsy has a wide variety of options and colors. The only con to stickers they are usually a temporary option as they may peel over time—especially those closer to any heating element.
Add new tile or peel and stick tile-a practical option that is a lot easier on the pocketbook.
These were the tiles we used in my sister’s budget-friendly kitchen update. See that here.
4. Remove Upper Cabinets and Add Open Shelving
Open shelving is an inexpensive and beautiful way to give your kitchen a unique, updated look. You may be a little nervous about this option. But, think now you are allowing yourself to display your dishes /decor and bringing in pops of color to set off your design and show your personality.

5. Paint or Upgrade Your Countertops- (How to Paint Countertops to look like Marble)
The cabinets were brought to life using an epoxy countertop kit in the inspiration photo. Of course, painting is the most budget-friendly option, but Formica and laminate countertops resemble higher-end finishes such as marble and granite. If you aren’t a huge DIY fan, these are definitely in the running. Painting my granite is in my near future- I have been a little nervous about this, but more and more DIYers are experiencing success. So I think I’m finally up for the challenge. I have done a lot of research and believe this to be the best option on the market currently.
